Gua sha/Graston Technique

What is Gua sha?

Gua sha/Graston is a soft tissue (muscle/ligament/tendon) technique that promotes blood flow to the area of injury to increase healing speed. This is achieved by scraping the affected area with a specific tool to induce controlled inflammation to those tissues. This scraping also helps to break down muscle tissues that may be full of adhesions from previous muscle sprain or ligament strains. The body then re-heals that area to ensure a proper recovery.

What conditions does this treat?

  • Tendonitis - Tendons do not have a good blood supply. Therefore, they do not heal very well. These techniques help to induce blood into the tendons and surrounding tissues, influencing a quicker healing time.
  • Muscle Soreness
  • Neck/Back Pain
  • Running Injuries
  • Athletic Injuries
  • Chronic Injuries
  • Shoulder/ Rotator Cuff Syndromes
  • The shoulder is comprised of mostly muscle. So, in order to properly treat it, you must include some ways to help the tissues heal, and heal at a more rapid rate.
  • Sprains/Strains
